Dr Patricia Parker is the Ruel W. Tyson, Jr. Distinguished Professor of Humanities and Director of the Institute for the Arts and Humanities at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, U.S.A. A professor in the Department of Communication, her work centers Black descendant communities engaging the histories of their ancestors’ lives during the founding of 17^th and 18^th century universities and memorializing them, while creating pathways toward reckoning, healing, and repair.
